The field of ultrasound as applied to medicine has grown by leaps and bounds during the last 5 years. Ultrasonography has become a routine procedure even in many community hospitals. There is therefore a pressing need for comprehensive texts in ultrasonography that present collective and updated information under one cover.
Dr. Goldberg and his coauthors, who are well known in their field, have done a very good job of putting together a useful manual on diagnostic ultrasound. The text is aimed mainly at non-cardiologic physicians and technicians. The chapters on cardiac ultrasound are well written and concise, but lack depth.
