Pulmonary embolism is a disorder important to all physicians and therefore they all would do well to be familiar with this collection of papers, which was originally published as a symposium in Circulation in 1974.
The authors and specific topics were carefully chosen to provide experimental data for consideration as well as practical information regarding a contemporary overall approach to basic diagnosis and therapy of pulmonary embolic disease. Much of the discussion draws heavily on the urokinase pulmonary embolism trial, which was completed in 1973.
