A physician or investigator who is looking for recently published papers in the science and practice of medicine has no lack of guides. Specific topics can be pursued with searches into the major, and even minor, journals of the world, English and non-English, with help of the National Library of Medicine's Index Medicus or its automated printout companion, MEDLINE. More specialized bibliographies save time for the searcher by presenting only literature critically selected by discerning compilers.
