Although the title might lead one to envision yet another atlas of bone marrow morphology, instead this is a scholarly and detailed review of anatomy and physiology of bone marrow. Emphasis is on the cell biology of bone marrow cells and the kinetics of normal hemopoiesis. In addition, the author reviews available knowledge of hemopoietic cell proliferation in various pathological states.
The first portion reviews cell proliferation and differentiation; the origin and growth of hemopoietic tissue; and the organization, blood and nerve supply of bone marrow, and some properties of nonhemopoietic cells. Separate chapters are then devoted to stem cells,
