Used properly, most drugs are usually beneficial—or at least not harmful—to the majority of patients to whom they are administered. Yet, a small but significant number of patients experience problems with each drug in the formulary, no matter how safe it is considered to be. This book reminds us that the generally recognized clinical problems with drugs are merely the floating top of an iceberg, with many drug-related problems remaining hidden beneath the surface of our awareness.
