What's the difference between a desk reference and a textbook of medicine? Presumably, a reference is just that—a repository of easily accessible, comprehensive, accurate information, leading the user to further sources of information as required. This fourteenth annual revision largely fulfills these expectations.
The format is clear and readable, with appropriate use of tables. There are many up-to-date references to papers in readily available journals. The editing is consistent, with a similar style and sequence of sections used throughout.
