This book is now in its seventh edition. From its inception it has had the same two outstanding editors but a changing list of multiple authors and a format allowing for changes in emphasis as the topic itself changes and grows. Of particular interest to the internist is the new section, "Special Problems in the Adolescent," where obesity, menstrual disorders, skin problems, and gynecologic procedures are well reviewed. Dr. Roslyn Seligman's discussion of emotional problems of adolescents is brief but particularly valuable in its emphasis on the physician/patient relationship and its fluctuating course.
