A number of excellent textbooks in allergy and clinical immunology have recently been or soon will be published. Most of these texts have had multiple contributors, each writing in his area of specialization.
In Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Dr. Criep receives able assistance from Drs. Rabin, Winkelstein, Shadduck, and Zeigler in chapters on basic immunology and immunohematology; the major portion of the book, 43 of 53 chapters, is solely the work of Dr. Criep.
Although one cannot fault the time and dedication required to write on so many diverse subjects, it is questionable whether this solo effort is appropriate in as rapidly advancing a field as allergy and clinical immunology. While
