SHERWOOD P. MILLER, M.D., F.A.C.P
To the editor: The article by Brook and Williams (Ann Intern Med 85:509-515, 1976) on use of injections disturbs by its implications and infuriates with its reflections of the authors' prejudices. One must sympathize with the editors faced with such a paper; to refuse publication would render them open to charges of unwillingness to face criticism of medical practice. Yet the standards of accuracy within the study and the conclusions of the authors would surely have led to rejection had this been an article on any scientific topic.
We are faced here with the spectacle of a central statewide bureaucracy
