To the editor: We read with interest the report of Drs. Milutinovich, Follette, and Scribner, "Spontaneous Retroperitoneal Bleeding in Patients on Chronic Hemodialysis" (Ann Intern Med 86:189-192, 1977). We simply wish to point out that contrary to their statement that "there have been no reports of spontaneous retroperitoneal bleeding in patients receiving chronic hemodialysis treatment," we have previously reported this complication in two patients (1) and have subsequently observed it in an additional two. Unlike our colleagues' experience, femoral nerve compression with transient palsy was a prominent finding in two of our four patients.
