Human filariasis is one of six tropical diseases that are current targets of special control efforts by WHO, and it is estimated that over 200 million persons around the world are infected by one of the four major filarial species known to be pathogenic for man. This monograph on the epidemiology and control of filariasis is therefore particularly timely.
