There is considerable merit in the contention that, owing to the popularity of sport diving, most physicians must have some information concerning barotrauma and decompression illness. The necessity of diving in off-shore exploration magnifies the requirement. This compilation by some of the experts (total of 21 contributors) in the field is an addition to the general body of knowledge on diving medicine with some significant limitations.
The foreward, written by one of the best informed experts, sets the need and the pace, until it attributes Oslerian qualities to the book. Simply not so. Likewise, the preface indicates that a course
