To the editor: The abstract of the article by Ratnoff and Jones in the May 1977 issue contains an error. In brief, it indicates that only 50% of women born of hemophiliac men would be expected to be carriers of that disease. The final two sentences of the abstract are the relevant ones and it is worth quoting them in full: "The validity of the techniques used is supported by the frequency with which the carrier state was recognized in daughters of hemophiliacs who themselves had no sons.
