This is a direct descendant of the third edition of Gout, which Dr. Talbott published in 1967. Because of the coauthorship with Dr. Yü, it is not called the fourth edition. Much new statistical information, as well as 35 brief case presentations, are abstracted from the incomparable collection of 1800 gout patients that was accumulated by the late Dr. A.B. Gutman and Dr. Yü. The graphic presentations are lucid, and the clinical examples are instructive. Unfortunately, the text is very uneven in emphasis, organization, and accuracy.
