A well-established major textbook originally written by L. Emmett Holt and then edited through successive editions by Dr. Holt, Rustin McIntosh, and Harry L. Barnett. Part of its great length is due to sections on normal structure and function of systems; among its virtues are comprehensiveness, attention to the humane aspects of practice, and generous space given to treatment. A good one-book reference for physicians who are not pediatricians.
