The 48 papers presented at a symposium held 20 to 24 October 1975, at Johns Hopkins Hospital. They form a broad and detailed view of pertinent pathophysiology, hormone measurement useful in diagnosis and therapy, findings in long-term observations, surgical correction, emotional and intellectual consequences, and genetic aspects. Bartter and Prader give, respectively, an opening historical perspective on development of knowledge of the syndrome and comments on the germinal influence of Lawson Wilkins on European pediatric endocrinology.
