Twenty-six papers, with discussions and summaries, from a meeting held in 1976 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mechanics of respiration and its control; mechanisms of exercise hyperpnea; control of airway caliber; and pulmonary gas exchange. The papers most likely to be of interest to clinicians are the five on exercise-induced bronchospasm, especially in asthmatic states, and the effect of drugs on it.
