An increasing number of books on echocardiography are appearing. Quality has ranged from very poor to excellent. This one rates "excellent" and should be in a library of anyone interested in echocardiography. There is a very brief introduction to the controls of an echocardiographic machine with virtually no reference to the physics of ultrasound. The rest of the text deals with the normal echocardiogram; valvular and congenital heart disease; pericardial, myocardial, hypertensive, and coronary artery disease; closing with a description of miscellaneous cardiovascular conditions. It fills a distinct need in that it provides a very large number of high-quality echocardiograms,
