In the third volume of this series, 86 contributors have provided 53 chapters; approximately 600 pages are devoted to the liver and 300 each for the pancreas and gallbladder. The strongest feature is the emphasis on clinical problems that are likely to be encountered in adults. Chapters on liver scanning and hepatic angiography provide excellent background reading for the physician who frequently uses these procedures in evaluating a patient. Discussions of major problems such as the effect of alcohol and other chemicals and drugs are done with care and thoroughness. Considerable space is devoted to the "new look" in cholesterol
