This has been a standard reference in the field of oral medicine since Lester Burket wrote the pioneering first edition in 1946. The original work was a succinct presentation of the diagnosis and management of oral disease, with numerous illustrations and a color atlas. Over the years the text has been expanded and brought up to date. The seventh edition, unfortunately, has taken a direction different from the original aim of the book, which was to present the important relations between oral and systemic disease.
