To the editor: With reference to the brief report by McFarland and coworkers (Ann Intern Med 88:57-58, 1978) on hypercalcemia with muscular subaortic stenosis, we wish to report a case in which the evidence for muscular subaortic stenosis has subsided after removal of a parathyroid adenoma.
The patient is a 63-year-old female Russian immigrant who was first seen on 5 March 1977, with complaints of substernal chest pain, increasing shortness of breath, and one episode of syncope for approximately 15 min on the morning of admission.
