Dr. Crawford points out that Edward Jenner, the same country doctor who developed the vaccine against smallpox, in 1778 was among the first to describe the pathology of the coronary arteries in angina pectoris. Two hundred years later the topic is still newsworthy and frought with issues yet unresolved.
