In view of the pre-agonal state of gross anatomy in some medical schools and its death in others, the appearance of a new anatomic atlas is a bit surprising. The publishers must be sure that it is alive and well in enough schools to justify the undoubtedly high cost of printing an atlas with so many color plates. This atlas scores high in some features and as a whole will better meet the needs of students than older atlases. The color plates are mainly of regional dissections and body sections; they are quasi-diagrammatic but are didactically effective despite their lacking
