The format of this book follows that of Dr. Griffith's previous work, Instructions For Patients (reviewed in Ann Intern Med 83: 435-436, 1975). Each page presents advice on a particular drug: instructions, precautions, possible side-effects, probable effect on activities of daily living, storage, refills, and overdosage. Most of my criticisms are picayune. The idea is superb, and the one-page, easy-to-photocopy format, even if excessively stereotyped, is sensible. It will be fascinating to find out if the Food and Drug Administration will protest the wording of the warnings of potential side-effects because they have all been shortened to reasonableness from the
