The data in this Symposium having to do with annual totals of numbers of hospital admissions, outpatient visits, and physicians trained in infectious diseases may not include data from osteopathic institutions.
The 1977 American Osteopathic Hospital Association survey of osteopathic hospitals reports that these 200 hospitals have a total of 24 006 adult and pediatric beds. The hospitals admitted 818 962 inpatients during 1977, of which 46.8% (383 588) were surgical admissions. The total number of live births in these hospitals was 52 804.
