The introductory sections have been expanded to include "the basic facts of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology that are needed for a full understanding of the symptoms and signs of neurological disorders." Sections on computerized axial tomography, disconnection syndromes, prolactin-secreting tumors, drug-induced dyskinesias, autonomic neuropathies, and carcinomatous syndromes have been added. Also significantly expanded are the sections on epilepsy, migraine, head injuries, cerebrovascular disease, parkinsonism, neuropathies, muscle diseases, myasthenia, multiple sclerosis, nutritional disorders, virus diseases, meningitis, motor neuron diseases, and the dementias.
