Physicians venturing into the field of medical diagnostic B-scan ultrasound need a considerable reservoir of information at their fingertips so that they may accurately evaluate images obtained with the equipment. Because many persons who undertake this task will be far removed from their anatomy classes and because the conventional presentation of anatomy is generally not in the form of cross-sectional analysis, it is very helpful to have at one's disposal an atlas of both normal and abnormal anatomy in various organ sections as seen by the ultrasound scanner.
