All aspects of hypertension in humans are addressed by this excellent book. The advantage of a one-author text is continuity without gaps or repetition, and Dr. Kaplan has achieved this goal and avoided personal bias. The section headings provide easy access to useful information, enhancing the text's value for reference. Minimal publication time was apparently achieved, because many recent significant data, including several 1978 papers, are presented. Consequently, there are some printing and clerical errors that can be overlooked by those who will appreciate the up-to-date nature of this edition as a reference source or as a teaching tool.
