Text divided into five parts: statistical analysis, application of statistics in the clinical laboratory, application in patient care, statistics for manufacturers, and a valuable concluding section on the presentation of statistics in the medical literature. Material added to the first edition includes chi square for multiple variables, Poisson distribution, use of median values, linear regression, precautions for methods comparison studies, and discussion of computers in the laboratory. There is an excellent introductory chapter on terminology, and a list of statistical abbreviations for laboratory use.
