To the editor: We read with interest the article by McDanald and Weisman in the December 1978 issue (1) on articular manifestations of rheumatic fever in adults. During our early medical training we saw patients with classic clinical presentation of rheumatic fever. During our first years of postgraduate training in the United States we saw acute rheumatic fever in an older-age-group population, in which the lack of Jones* criteria and minimal if any cardiac manifestations were the rule. We report here the case of an adult patient in whom aseptic meningitis was the initial clinical manifestation of rheumatic fever.
