By definition, a primer is a small introductory book on a subject. In spite of its 367 pages, this text is significantly more abbreviated than other books on the same subject. The stated purpose is to expose young clinicians to the elementary principles of diagnosis and treatment of commonly seen vascular disorders. The author has chosen to stress the clinical aspects of the many disease entities he discusses. Included are some historic features as well as many physical findings that require close observation combined with a strong sense of awareness.
