The discipline of science forces all who work within it to work under the same constraints. They must make their observations, record them, and publish them in such a way that all other workers, today's or tomorrow's, will be able to see the same aspects of the observed world with the same view. Artists are under a different yoke. They are self-compelled to show in sound, image, or word the world exactly as each senses it. The artist may or may not convey exactly that sense to whomever else sees her picture or reads his poem. But likely the artist
