To the editor: A 35-year-old woman was prescribed cimetidine for duodenal ulcer in August 1978. After 2 weeks of starting the therapy she noticed large amounts of hair on the pillows and brush. Her sink had become clogged with hair on numerous occasions. She could produce a large clump of hair by simply running her fingers through her scalp. Hair loss stopped when the therapy was discontinued.
She needed a second course of cimetidine for the recurrence of ulcer symptoms. While on cimetidine she started losing hair again so she stopped the therapy.
