A concise and thorough survey of the most prevalent disorders of the small bowel in children (gluten-sensitive enteropathy (coeliac disease), dietary-protein intolerance, bacterial and viral enteritides, sugar malabsorption, parasitic infestation, Crohn's disease, structural anomalies), with brief attention to rarer entities. Separate chapters on diagnostic methods, including history-taking, physical examination, and the more advanced techniques such as mucosal biopsy. Generous number of tabulations and bibliographic references. Will be useful as a supplement to the larger adult-oriented textbooks of gastroenterology for pediatricians and the gastroenterologist subspecialists who see children in consultation. The price is unreasonably high.
