Can writers of medical papers be helped to get them published by manuals on how to write? Papers with new, important clinical observations or research findings are likely to get published without much delay despite structural anomalies or soggy prose; an editor may go to some length to aid authors in revising papers likely to enhance the journal's reputation. Papers with stale or trivial messages are unlikely to get into print in major journals even if they have been cast in impeccable prose.
