To the editor: A reduction in triiodothyronine (T3) concentration, with no change in thyroxine (T4), has been found during exercise in heat (1). With reference to the recent paper in your journal, "Heat Intolerance in Former Heatstroke Patients" (2), we have tried to ascertain differences in thyroid metabolism of heat-tolerant and -intolerant subjects. Nine heat-tolerant and five heat-intolerant volunteers were examined in a climatic chamber at a workload of 40 w for 3 h under 40 °C and 50% relative humidity.
