The cardiovascular system is among the less common sites for primary tumors, both benign and malignant. Yet primary tumors involving the heart or pericardium and blood vessels may achieve considerable importance in diagnosis and therapy.
The diverse manifestations of primary tumors of the cardiovascular system coincide with various functional expressions of commoner conditions. These manifestations may lead either to complexities in differential diagnosis or to a state in which a tumor is not even considered.
