Although there have been a large number of books on cancer chemotherapy in recent years, most have been disappointingly superficial. It is therefore gratifying to report that the authors of this book have produced a short introductory text that contains an appropriate degree of detail.
A discussion of cancer chemotherapy requires a synthesis of cell biology, biochemistry, and pharmacology, and the authors have accomplished this with a fair measure of success. They begin with an account of basic cytokinetics, including the classic experimental studies of Skipper and Bruce, and then describe the modes of action of the individual drugs, including
