This edition, like earlier editions, is expectedly almost entirely given to the physiology of normal mammalian, including human, functions. Several sections do have chapters specifically concerned with function in disease, notably "Urine Formation in the Diseased Kidney" by Lassiter and Gottschalk" and "Dyspnea and Abnormal Types of Respiration" by Lambertson. The two new chapters are those on systems analysis by Houk and on aging by Timiras. Remains an authoritative and broad but detailed major textbook.
