A number of new books have recently appeared to assist the primary care physician in working with the emotional aspects of patients. A text that has contributions from many authors can provide a comprehensive approach to the many areas of psychiatric theory and practice relevant to the primary care physician. To a large extent the editors do cover the major emotional disorders and life dilemmas, presenting an often detailed, theoretical, and practical approach.
Unfortunately, an opportunity to outline certain relevant contributions that psychiatry has to offer is ignored, or such contributions are cursorily described. The theoretical and practical aspects of
