With the ever-increasing numbers of cardiac catheterizations done in this country, there have been dozens of new publications on the subject in recent years. However, this book is rather unique in that its scope is limited: diagnostic interventions only. It is not a guide for the basic technique of catheterization. Exercise testing, pacing, and pharmacologic intervention (including contrast dye) during catheterization are the main topics. The author departs briefly from the invasive laboratory for one chapter to describe the changes in murmurs that can be induced by such maneuvers as squatting and Valsalva. It is a small, easily read book
