Management of immigrants and travelers raises the specter of possible imported disease with which the Western physician may be unfamiliar. This book is partially successful in remedying that situation. The author, previously a professor of microbiology at Makerere University in Uganda, practices in the English midlands where he sees many immigrants from developing countries. The text, addressed to the general practitioner, is filled with case reports from the author's practice, the literature, and the lay press.
The content is somewhat eclectic and the organization unique. In the first part the author describes general practice in Great Britain, makes an interesting
