First published in 1965, Dr. Cotes' text continues to enjoy well-deserved popularity, despite increasing competition from numerous similar publications. The author has managed to combine within a single volume an extensive discussion of the fundamentals of clinical physiology, considerable detail regarding the technical basis for a wide range of laboratory measurements, extensive tabulations plus graphic displays of normal reference values, and some selected clinical case studies.
This is a highly "readable" text, largely because the author is more concerned with the clarity of his prose than with the inclusion of every possible exception and reference. It is particularly appealing to
