It has been 18 years since Bothwell and Finch produced their classic review, Iron Metabolism. In this new version, Charlton and Cook have been added as authors, and a large amount of up-dated information is organized in an innovative fashion. The text is a model of lucid scientific writing, and the figures are simple and clear.
There are three sections. The first and longest section deals with clinical aspects of normal iron nutrition, iron deficiency, and iron overload. This portion of the book will have the broadest appeal because it provides enough pathophysiologic background to be a solid basis for
