Essential Immunology (Roitt) and Immunology (Eisen) are general short introductions to basic and medical immunology. Roitt's does hold to the essentials and is remarkably clear and effective as a primer, in part because of its generous supply of well conceived and simple diagrams. Eisen's text is more detailed and not as fluent; it was originally published as a section in the textbook, Microbiology, by Davis, Dulbecco, Eisen, and Ginsberg. Practical Immunology is a short introduction to laboratory methods for immunology, supplying both the conceptual basis for methods and specific instructions on equipment, reagents, and procedure.
