The Patient Risk Tree is a computer program written by the Center for Disease Control for assigning probabilities of nosocomial infection to patients.
Amos has diabetes.
Carol has Cushing's disease.
Frank is in his eighties,
With an emphysematous wheeze.
For each of them there is a leaf
And there is even a bud for me.
Everyone of us has a place
Somewhere on the patient risk tree.
As our bodies grow old and withered
This tree will flourish and bloom.
Some plants like the sunlight;
This one likes the gloom.
And in that last Autumnal wind
That must come to
