There is no question that we are in the midst of an exercise epidemic. The authors and this reviewer hope that it will spread. Currently, 40% of Americans exercise regularly. What is more important is that 60% don't.
The first portion of this tidy, well-documented book serves to validate the exercise hypothesis. Clinical, laboratory, and epidemiologic sources are interrelated to affirm the major benefits of an active exercise program in a variety of settings.
