The understanding that human development is a continuous process, and that creative change and growth occur in adult years, is the message that Drs. Colarusso and Nemiroff present. The myth that personality is fixed by the end of childhood is discussed; the continuous evolution of childhood structures is defined and illustrated using clear clinical material.
The authors present recent contributions dealing with the stages and tasks of adult development. Although they do not offer a critique of the questions and contradictions raised by some of these studies, they show the consistency of the theme.
