The high cost of randomized clinical trials in cancer therapy has led to an assessment of their contribution to cancer treatment. Part I follows randomized clinical trials from initiation to conclusion, and determines the extent to which the results have altered therapeutic methods in subsequent years. The second part lists treatments available for specific cancers, and attempts to identify the roles of randomized and nonrandomized clinical trials in the establishment of these treatments.
