Medical students will find this book a handy introduction to dermatology. Like all good field guides, the book fits snugly in the pocket of a white coat and can be read with ease to identify each new disorder seen in the skin clinic. The enthusiasm and practical guidance should serve to whet the student's appetite for a subject that constitutes about 20% of a general medical practice. On the other hand, medical students full of curiosity and questioning may find the book too sketchy and incomplete to bring real satisfaction. Nor is the book a substitute for the major textbooks
